Overview

The project involves the extension to 33-bed hostel facility and is to include the renovation of a 2-storey brick primary school building. Building elements include brick, timber flooring extensive glazing and landscaping.
24/2/03 - Latest Update
Today we had the opportunity of speaking with project architect, Enrico Marrone, who told us that SW & J Gardiner have been appointed recently as the successful builder (see contact link below). On-site works are due to commence within the next couple of weeks.
Marrone also added that furniture and cabinets/storage solutions are likely to be specified in a couple of months. They will utilise and add to the existing air-conditioning system and commerical kitchen, adding a small satellite kitchen mainly for heating of food. Marrone said he would like to receive information from furniture and cabinet/storage solution suppliers for consideration in a couple of months. It is likely the company will give suggestions to the Sacred Heart Mission who would then request pricing.

This afternoon we had a discussion with Draftsman, Roger Vieth, from Paul Archibald Pty Ltd. He informed us tenders are to be called next week. Selected builders will be invited to submit a final bid in December 2002. Construction is expected to begin early 2003.
Vieth welcomed interest from NZ suppliers and recommended they forward a brief introduction along with their field of their interest. Our conversation centred on suppliers offering:
Furniture: Medical, soft lounge and hard
Glulam
Kiln-dry finger jointed timber (fascia or moldings)
Steel Storage Solutions: filing cabinets, lockers, mobile storage, cabinets, traditional filing etc
Decorative Wood Paneling: coloured MDF, particleboard flooring
Electrical: Specifically energy efficient heating and ventilation equipment
Roofing: Colour Steel, metal tiles, guttering etc
Food service equipment
Display counters
Commercial chillers and freezers
Heaters-rooms and floors
