Overview Report Date: 9/10/01
Status: Requests further capability information for co-op members.

Twofold Bay Fishermens Co-Op, as the name suggests, is a combine of local
commercial fishermen in the coastal town of Eden, on NSW`s south coast. Most
vessels used by the co-op are commercial and smaller-size trawlers.

Today we again contacted the Manager of the Co-Op, John Symonds, who
although busy was friendly and helpful. Symonds said that, following our
last conversation with him, some information was received and utilised by
various co-op members. He believes some orders were placed and useful
contacts established.

Symonds requested further information and brochures on the following
equipment:

* Electrical Componentry
* GPS and Fish Finding Equipment
* Anchors
* Winches
* Trawling Hardware
* Propulsion Systems
* Composite Technology
* Refit Work
* On-deck Fittings
* Doors, Hatches & Windows
* Fuel Technology
* Communications Systems
* Plumbing, Welding, Machining, Mechanics
* Power Management/ Battery Chargers
* Air Conditioners, Water Chillers, Ventilation etc

Our previous reports have stated regarding the NSW Fishing Industry that
business has become less profitable due to licencing restrictions being
imposed by State and Federal Government. Currently, larger Tuna Line Fishing
Vessels appear to be the winners as far as quotas are concerned, and
according to Symonds the smaller fishing groups such as his are left to deal
with the effects of smaller quotas and tighter licencing regulations.

Despite tough times Symonds said his group is still eager to view capability
information and be kept up to date with the latest marine technology and
innovations.

Recommendations Interested NZ companies are advised to forward numerous copies of capability brochures and business cards for distribution among the Co-Op members.
